FAQs

1). Where are you based?

I am based in Epsom, Surrey and cover London, Greater London and Surrey photography shoots. Please contact me for more information on travelling costs to other locations.

2). Where will the photo shoot take place?

The location of your session is entirely up to you. I have found that taking photographs of babies, children and families in their own environment, or a place that they love such as the local park, makes them more relaxed and captures that special something that makes them who they are.

Good natural light results in more beautiful portraits, outdoor sessions are best in open shade and when planning the time of your session it is best to avoid midday sun.

If you would prefer an indoor session, I can bring black or white backdrops which can be complimented with blankets or throws of your choice. Indoor sessions tend to work better with young babies, whilst older children are generally happier playing outside.

3). When is the best time to photograph newborns?

The best time to photograph newborns is within the first two weeks, when they still have the “curl factor”. Please contact me before the birth of your child so that I can ensure that I plan my schedule accordingly, and then let me know as soon as the little angel arrives so that I can confirm a date.

4). What should we wear?

Newborns and babies are best photographed wearing nothing, or if you prefer, just a nappy. It can also work well to wrap little ones in blankets, it will look best if it is a solid colour with no pattern. Babies also look great wearing cute hats, if you have any that you particularly like please bring them with you. It is best to use hats that do not have rims, so as not to cast a shadow on the baby’s face.

Parents who wish to be photographed with newborns and babies will look best in black roll neck tops with long sleeves, if you do not have one then a solid dark colour will also work, this will help draw more attention to the baby’s perfect skin.

Toddlers, children and adults should avoid bold patterns, logos and slogans. Jeans with barefeet works well for the whole family in group shots, tops should be simple and co-ordinated.

If you are struggling to decide what to wear, I will be happy to offer some advice, or alternatively have a number of outfits at the session and I can help you choose.

5). What do you charge?

The standard session fee is £50. This fee includes a discussion of your requirements, the photo shoot at the location of your choice and the professional editing and finishing of your images.  I am happy to work around your baby’s schedule and am guided by parents as to when the baby is usually happiest, but from experience this tends to be mid-morning between naps.

Within 1-2 weeks you will receive a link to an online gallery, showing the photos from your session in colour and black and white. You and your friends and family can then choose which prints you want to order. The gallery will be available for a minimum of one month.

Products available include prints, canvases, photobooks and albums. Please contact me for a full price list.
